Copywriting Services

If you are new to the copywriting process I am sure you are wondering how it works. Even if you have used a copywriter before I want to share with you my Seven Step Process to ensure success for your marketing campaigns.

Step One-Questions

I ask a lot of questions…
questions like:

  • What is your business?
  • Who are your clients?
  • What is your service/product?
  • What makes your service/product different or makes it stand apart from your competitors?
  • What kind of marketing campaigns are you going to do-web marketing, e-mail campaign, direct mail, etc.?

I may ask to speak to different people in your organization to get the clearest picture possible.  I listen to all of your answers to really understand your business and product/service.

Step Two-Project Details

We discuss your project details in a telephone meeting (or in person if you prefer and you are in the Phoenix area). You should invite anyone you feel will have useful information to share. You provide me with your projects background materials.

These can be:

  • Existing brochures
  • Previous direct mail campaigns
  • Online marketing campaigns
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Reports
  • Product development materials
  • Web pages
  • E-mail campaigns
  • Your competitors' materials (especially if we are trying to beat it)
  • Everything related to the product or service we are writing about

Step Three-Research

I start my own research. Research about your competitors, your product/service, and your clients. Who are your typical clients and what emotions are driving their buying decisions right now? I study your materials carefully to gain an understanding of your products' features and the benefits they offer.

I study your offer. How can I make it irresistible?

Step Four-Copywriter’s Rough

I prepare a copywriter’s rough for your review to ensure I have captured:

  • The Unique Selling Proposition of your product/service
  • Who your Audience is along with their beliefs, desires and feelings.
  • The Big Idea for your product/service
  • The Big Promise and presented your companies Credibility
  • Your Offer and made it irresistible to your clients
  • The Right Voice for your copy and your company is positioned correctly

Step Five-First Draft

The first draft will be sent to you as a word document for your review. There may be design suggestions included in the draft. I like to work with the graphic designer. Sometimes the design can totally change the message in the copy.

Step Six-Review and Revisions

You review the copy and request revisions if needed. All you have to do is tell me what you want improved and what the changes are and I’ll make them fast.

There is NO CHARGE for rewriting. Revisions are included in the flat fee we’ve agreed to for the assignment provided they are assigned within 30 days of your receipt of the copy and are not based on changes in scope after the copy has been submitted.

Most clients are very pleased with their copy when they review it. But if you are not 100 percent satisfied, I will revise the copy according to your specific guidelines at my expense.

Step Seven-Final Product Review

One final look. You are ultimately responsible for the final checking of all copy, design, and production elements, but I do appreciate it when you e-mail a PDF or fax a copy of the final layout to me.

It allows me to take one last look at the copy to make sure it is just right and delivers the message we are working to deliver. Sometimes non-sales orients members of the development team change copy with unintentionally adverse consequences.

A Final Request

Once your targeted marketing project is done I would like to post a copy of my work on my website. I will not do this without your permission of course.

Open the form so you can share the details of that project that you need help with and I'll get right back to you.
